Aruba is a tiny island in the Caribbean Sea with an approximate area of seventy five square miles and with a population of approximately hundred and ten thousand people. This island lies out of hurricane belt and have a dry climate. It was originally occupied by Amerindians migrated from South America. Later it remained a colony of Spain for over a century. It remained under the control of Dutch, British, and US administration during various periods. From 1986 it attained the status of autonomous governing member state of Kingdom of Netherlands.
The educational system of Aruba is followed in the Dutch pattern. Education and is mostly financed by the Government for primary and secondary education. University of Aruba provides professional education in bachelors and masters courses for law, finance, business management and economics. For higher studies students depends on US and Europe.
Aruba is a financially very sound with high living standards through tourism and oil processing which are the main sources of income. The culture of Aruba is mixed with high Dutch influence .The official language is Dutch and Papiamento. Papiamento is derived with words collected from many languages like English, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese and African dialects. Use of English is common due to tourist’s interaction with local people.
